Get Set, Go!

We have totally enjoyed going to Get Set Go every Thursday morning this year. The mid winter mornings were freezing but we were never deterred. We have learnt so many different locomotion movements and ball skills. We are sad that we have finished for the year! A huge thank you to Joe from Kelly Sports for his enthusiasm and patience. We wish him luck with his future in teaching.

My favourite Get Set Go game that Joe taught me is Dodge Tag. -Tyler

My favourite Get Set Go game is toilet tag and I'm going to tell you all about it. You need to find a spot. Next Joe finds the taggers and there are only 3 or less. Then the taggers try to tag the people who are not a tagger. -Maddy

My favourite Get Set Go game that Joe taught me is...Toilet Tag. This is how you play Toilet Tag. When the game starts you need to tag people. If you get tagged you have to sit like a toilet. To be back in the game someone has to come and give you a high five.  -Cruz

My favourite Get Set Go game that Joe taught me is Tail Tag. You have to run away from the people. The people have to take your tail off. When someone takes your tail off you are out. You have to put it in your shorts. The last one with their tail in wins! - Elan

My favourite Get Set Go game that Joe taught me is to play Ultimate Tag. This is what you do. First find a space to stand in your own spot around the courts. Next you run around the courts and if you get tagged you sit down and if you both get tagged at the same time you play paper, scissors, rock. When the other person is free you are free too! -Mataiyasi

Life Education - part 2

We had our second visit to see Harold in the Life Education bus today. We have written some pieces to share what we have learnt. A big thanks to Ingrid from Life Education. Please have a read!
Harold taught me about being healthy.
You shouldn’t eat too much sugar. You should eat veges.-Caleb

Harold taught me about body parts. We all got to see harolds best friend. She was really cool because she did not have all of her skin which was pretty cool alright. We saw shiny white stars. When I was chosen by miss Thompson I got to stand on the seat and I said “I am amazing doctor armarni” and the brain glowed and showed the inside of your brain. If you put both of your fingers together that is how bg your brain is.- Armarni

Harold taught me about the food pyramid. You should mostly eat vegetables and fruit like carrots. Also sleep would be the best thing because when you sleep you get energy. – Cruz

Harold taught me about the respiration cycle. We brathe in oxygen through our nos and mouth, down our tricky trachea into our lungs. But we breathe out carbon dioxide. Trees love carbon dioxide.
-Conner

Harold taught me about breathing. We breathe in oxygen into our lungs. Carbon dioxide that comes out goes into the trees. Oxygen goes around our body. Our body has 206 bones. – Kowhai

Life Education!

Today we had our first visit to the Life Education bus with Harold the Giraffe and Ingrid. We are learning all about what our body needs to stay healthy and alive. Today we learned about the respiratory system and how our body uses oxygen. Take a look at us inside the bus!

In we go!

Ingrid turned the classroom purple!

Then green!

Then starry!

Harold popped out for a visit.

Cruz helped Harold use a snorkel.

Learning how the lungs work.

Teddy Bears Picnic!

The year 2s have been working hard to design and make a perfect package suitable for a Rice Bubble Bar. They had to be strong, functional and able to be carried without the bubble bar breaking or falling out. Today we put the bars in our packages and walked to Burrell park for a Teddy Bear's Picnic. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed eating our Rice Bubble Bars and playing games. Our packages were a huge success, take a look!!

Firewise!

We have been learning how to be Firewise and what we can do to stay safe. We have identified safe and unsafe fires and what to do in case of a fire. We get down, get low, get out, FAST!
We call 111 and tell the operator our address, what is on fire and if anyone is hurt.
It was great having Fireman Darren Shackleton come and share videos with us about how to be Firewise. We heard a smoke alarm and yelled FIRE FIRE FIRE as we evacuated the building and assembled in a Safe Meeting Place. Take a look at us getting down, getting low and getting out as we evacuated the Muritai Centre! A big thanks again to Darren for coming to teach us today.
"C'mon on guys, get firewise!!"

Fires double in size every 30 seconds.

Beep Beep Beep goes the smoke alarm! Look at that black 'smoke'!

We safely got down, got low and got out under the smoke and out to safety.
